Sarabande - Immersive musical roleplay experience

In a small café in Montmartre, a group of people meet day after day at the turn of the 19th century - all entangled in issues of love, beauty, freedom and truth. With their individual rules, conflicts, fears, assumptions and commitments, they play through the same routines again and again. It is as if their lives are frozen in one atonal unstable harmony seeking redemption, but unable to find peace.

The participants will play the twelve persons who attend this little café on Montmartre in Paris at the end of the 19th century day after day and meet again and again. The story will include a repetitive routine at the start of each day and the days in the café . Through music, artistic expression, body language and dance their relationships and tensions unfold. The experience is mostly non-verbal.

The main themes of the story are freedom, love, beauty and truth.

The participants will be guided through a comprehensive workshop to prepare for the experience by an experienced facilitator, Lea.

Costuming

Some costume elements will be provided, so feel free to show up in neutral dark clothing. However, if you wish - you may dress up like a bohemian artist or intellectual going to their favorite Parisian cafe at the end of the 19th century!
